Progress Through Partnership

As we look back on Q3, one theme continues to stand out: progress in clinical development rarely comes from adding more activity alone. It comes from having the right people, the right perspective, and the right support at the moment it matters most.

‍

This quarter, Ascendia continued working alongside sponsors and clinical teams as they navigated recruitment challenges, operational demands, quality considerations, and evolving program needs. Whether supporting teams in the field or helping leaders think through the next phase of a project, the focus remained the same: practical expertise, applied where it can make the greatest difference.

In this issue, we’re highlighting some of that work—from recent community activity and a spotlight on Ron Cherubini, to perspectives on strategic clinical support and the role trusted relationships play throughout the industry.

‍

As clinical programs continue to change, Ascendia remains focused on helping teams move forward with greater clarity, flexibility, and confidence.

    ASCENDIA IN THE FIELD

    ‍

This quarter, members of the Ascendia team traveled to New Orleans to support recruitment efforts directly at the site level.

    ‍

The work included meeting with site coordinators, connecting with physicians, and helping identify opportunities to strengthen recruitment activity.

It’s a good example of the way Ascendia approaches clinical support—not from a distance, but by getting close to the challenges teams are actually facing.

    ‍

That hands-on perspective helps uncover practical opportunities, strengthen communication, and keep recruitment efforts moving forward.

    Collaborator Spotlight

Ron Cherubini brings more than 25 years of pharmaceutical industry experience spanning clinical process improvement, quality systems, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional strategy.

    ‍

His experience across pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device organizations gives him a practical, systems-focused perspective on complex challenges.

    ‍

At Ascendia, Ron helps teams strengthen processes, manage risk, and develop solutions designed to work in the real world—not just on paper.

    THOUGHT LEADERSHIP

When clinical teams are stretched, adding another resource can feel like the obvious solution. But additional headcount doesn’t always address the reason progress has slowed.

    ‍

Sometimes the greater need is experienced clinical expertise that can assess the situation, identify gaps, recommend a path forward, and adapt as the program evolves.

    ‍

That distinction is at the heart of Ascendia’s approach: supporting teams with the right expertise, at the right level, for the challenge in front of them.

The Difference Between Staff Augmentation and Strategic Clinical Support

There’s a familiar moment in clinical development when the workload starts outpacing the team. Timelines tighten, priorities shift, and internal resources are stretched across multiple programs.

    ‍

The natural question is often: Do we need more people?

    ‍

Sometimes, yes. But adding another person doesn’t necessarily solve the reason progress has slowed.

Traditional staff augmentation is effective when the need is clear: the sponsor knows what needs to be done, understands the skills required, and needs additional capacity to execute the work.

Strategic clinical support addresses a different need.

It brings experienced professionals who can assess the situation, identify gaps, recommend a path forward, anticipate downstream risks, and adapt as study or organizational needs change.

    ‍

The distinction is important because headcount and progress aren’t always the same thing. Before filling another seat, consider asking:
    ‍

What expertise do we need to move this forward?

That question can lead to a very different kind of support—and a more effective path forward. Read the full article at AscendiaClinical.com
